Summer is reaching the end, but you know what that means; Fall. Those bright orange, yellow red leaves, the cold crisp air filling your lungs, and dressing with scarves, jackets, rain boots. The weather will change from the beautiful yellow sunshine to those harsh fall rains. That’s why we need to be ready to beat the cold weather, and get prepared for the flu season.
During the month of October is when the flu season begins to peak. The flu is a respiratory infection that affects anyone causing mild to severe symptoms. Fever, aches, cough, sore throats are some common symptoms of the flu. It is important to take precautions to prevent yourself from getting sick especially when we are living in a pandemic. The flu can spread very quickly especially in places like schools, work places, and facilities where many people attend. Here are some ways to help prevent yourself from getting the flu.
1.Washing your Hands: This is actually one of the most important ways of protecting yourself. Washing your hands frequently and sanitizing can get rid of the flu virus living on your hands. Using soap and water rub your hands together for at least 20 seconds.
- Flu Vaccination: Receiving the flu vaccine from your local pharmacy yearly to strengthen yourself against the flu, is recommended. The shot will help in building a stronger immune response to the flu; therefore, receiving the flu shot is crucial every year.
3.Self Strengthening: Building up your own immune system with basic practices can drastically improve your chances of not getting the flu. Getting a good night's sleep ( at least 8 hours), eating well (three times a day, limiting junk food) and regular physical activity are all good for keeping you healthy.
Another way that can aid in the protection of the flu is taking vitamins to provide immune system support. Vitamin C is one of the largest immune system boosters which help with preventing illnesses. It is located in many foods like oranges, spinach, strawberries etc. Next is Vitamin B6 which is to support your immune system. It is often found in salmon, tuna and green vegetables. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps fight off infection. This can be found in nuts and seeds. We offer many Vitamin C, B6, and E here at Natural Vitamin Direct as well.
