Feature Summary

GreenSelect Green Tea Extract Phytosome (Camellia sinensis) is a caffeine-free, standardized green tea extract that has undergone intensive toxicological and pharmacological scrutiny, demonstrating safety and verifying its high antioxidant activity. It is standardized to a very high polyphenol content (not less than 60%) with the most active polyphenol, epigallocatechin 3-0-gallate, comprising at least 40% of the extract.

Green tea is loaded with polyphenols, compounds with strong antioxidant properties that may inhibit cancer cell growth. Epigallocatechin 3-0-gallate is the polyphenol with the most antioxidant activity. Most human studies on green tea assess its cancer-preventive properties and at least ten studies show that green tea consumption is protective against the development of esophageal, stomach, lung, colorectal, bladder, gastric and pancreatic cancers.

Research demonstrates that green tea guards against cardiovascular disease in many ways. Green tea lowers total cholesterol levels and improves the cholesterol profile (the ratio of LDL cholesterol to HDL cholesterol), reduces platelet aggregation, and lowers blood pressure. The polyphenols in green tea have also been shown to lessen the risk of several types of cancers, stimulate the production of several immune system cells, and have antibacterial properties, even against the bacteria that cause dental plaque.
